  • The record number of binge drinking deaths involving college students has highlighted the need for universities to be able to find ways to reduce the out-of-control drinking practices that so are such a part of the fabric on college campuses today.
  • Because drinking alcohol induces urination within a short period of time, the body can become dehydrated with alcohol consumption and the kidneys may not be able to properly perform the necessary functions of regulation electrolytes. Although moderate alcohol consumption may not cause permanent kidney damage, they will not function properly during the period of time that a person is drinking.
  • A three week study by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse that had men and women consume 30-40 grams of alcohol (approximately three beers) per day, showed a 6.8% reduction in testosterone for the men and none for the women at the end of the study-period.
  • Vomiting is part of the body's automatic defense system that is activated in order to prevent more alcohol from being absorbed.
